HashtagNYU
Summary
HashtagNYU was a social media brand curating and sharing the NYU story one tweet, video, and GIF at a time.
I joined the team at the start of my sophomore year, gaining more responsibilities and expanding my skillset as the internship grew and evolved — eventually being promoted to team lead.
Over the years, I snapped photos, pitched ideas, wrote and edited content, designed graphics, covered live events, produced and edited videos, managed a community of bloggers, and mentored over a dozen interns. Most of all, I had a lot of fun.

Challenge
As the world’s largest private university — spanning six continents and 14 cities — NYU faces unique challenges in student communication and engagement. How can we create community without the stereotypical fenced-in campus, football games, and massive frat parties that pop culture promises college students?
HashtagNYU tackled this issue head on by providing a digital space for students to connect and discuss issues, broadcast events, share stories, and feel a sense of pride for their university.
Goals
Connect students to university resources, adding value to their journey
Connect students to each other, fostering a sense of belonging
Become the unifying experience that all NYU students can share

Impact
In the process of sunsetting the brand, I reached out to all our former interns and asked what HashtagNYU meant for them, compiling the best comments into our final Tumblr post. Below are some of my favorite, sent by interns I personally led.
While it’s tough to get hard numbers on such a long-running project, here is a snapshot of my personal contribution to the brand and team:
